Preventing Icarus
Game Design for a AAA game
'Preventing Icarus' is a game concept for a fictional blockbuster game, which was developed as part of a team work in Philip McClenaghan's 'Computer Games Development' elective.
'Preventing ICRAUS' was conceived as an action-adventure game with interactive film elements, in which special emphasis is placed on the action and free decision-making of the player, with consequences that can be felt directly or later in the game.
MISSION STATEMENT
" In 'Preventing ICARUS', the player finds out about a potentially world threatening conspiracy coming from the very own company they just started working at. Can they find a way to prevent the seemingly inevitable or will they fail? In “Preventing ICARUS” it’s up to the player to decide which risks they’re willing to take to have an impact on history’s course. "

The Backstory
Ever since you had heard of it, you always wanted to work at BIOTRAX, a high-profile company who helps improving the lives of millions of people. You work hard and finally manage getting a job you would never have dared to dream of.
You’re introduced to your department on your first day of work. Your supervisor shows you around and finally drops you off at your desk. You boot up your PC and after login, you find an unread email in your account. You cannot believe what you’re reading. You check if anyone is watching, then quickly archive it in a hidden folder. If it’s true what you just read, and if you’re the only uninvolved employee knowing about it… is there anything you can even do to prevent the seemingly inevitable? It’s your choice if you want to dare risking to lose your dream job and preventing a global scale catastrophe or if you’ll keep quiet and watch.
You’re an entry level Bio Engineer with focus on concepting. BIOTRAX wants you to come up with new ways how to potentially improve human lives through implantable microchips.
You’ll be sitting at your desk all day, creating new ideas and concepts that you will later report to your supervisor so he can give you feedback and tell you what to keep working on and what not.
Sounds good to you at first but once you found out about what’s happening behind the scenes at BIOTRAX, you grow suspicious and start thinking about things you could potentially do without anyone noticing to find out more.
